Busted Barrel Cocktails
We all know by now that Busted Barrel is the best rum available, made with love here in the Garden State. Here are some great cocktail ideas to enhance your Busted Barrel experience! Cheers!!
Jersey Girl Mojito
1 shot Busted Barrel Silver Rum
3 mint or basil leaves
3-5 strawberries, chopped (depending on size)
1/2 tsp raw sugar
juice of 1/2 lime
Muddle together the strawberries and the Blueberries. Add the Busted Barrel Silver Rum, the mint or basil leaves, the sugar and lime juice. Muddle again until briefly. Pour into a tall Collins glass over ice and top with club soda.
Garnish with a wedge of lime.
Jersey Summer Smash
1 shot Busted Barrel Silver Rum
1 shot Blue J Syrups Elderflower & Lemon
Ginger Ale (or blackberry flavored ginger ale if you can find it)
Muddle together the Busted Barrel Silver Rum, the Blue J Syrup and the blackberries in the bottom of a rocks glass. Add ice and ginger ale and stir until well blended. Garnish with a lemon wedge.
Busted in Brazil
2 shots Busted Barrel Silver Rum
The juice of 1 large lime
1 tsp raw superfine sugar
In a mason jar (or similar vessel), combine the Busted Barrel Silver Rum with the lime juice and sugar. Top with club soda and garnish with a slice of lime.
2 shots Busted Barrel Dark Rum
1 shot Cherry Brandy
1 bottle Mexican Coke (the good kind with sugar, not corn syrup)
5 cherries (without pits)
1/2 shot grenadine
Gently smash the cherries in the bottom of a Tall Collins Glass. add ice to the glass. Pour all other ingredients into the glass. Stir until well mixd. Garnish with a fresh or maraschino cherries.
2 shots Busted Barrel Rum (Silver or Dark, whichever you prefer)
2 shots Blue J Syrups (any flavor you like, they're all delicious)
Fill a rocks glass with ice. Add Busted Barrel Rum and Blue J Syrups and stir together. Top with club soda, give it one last stir and enjoy!
This also makes a great, easy punch for large groups. Fill a punchbowl with ice. Pour in 1 bottle of Busted Barrel Rum and 2 bottles of Blue J Syrups. Add 1-2 liters of club soda.
3 shots Busted Barrel Silver Rum
2 tablespoons Cream of Coconut
1/4 cup fresh pineapple
8 ounces pineapple juice (preferably fresh)
1 tablespoon shredded coconut
Fill a blender 3/4 full with ice (if you're feeling fancy, make your own ice from coconut water). Add all ingredients, and blend until smooth. Garnish with a cherry, a lime wedge and some additional shredded coconut.
Cocktail Whisperer's Painkilling System #201
(inspiration from Apothecary Cocktails, by Warren Bobrow)
3 oz Busted Barrel Dark Rum
1 oz Busted Barrel Silver Rum
1 T orgeat syrup
1/2 oz sweetened coconut milk
2 oz fresh pineapple juice
2 oz freshly squeezed orange juice
2 oz freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
ice cubes made by freezing coconut water
4 dashes orange bitters
freshly grated nutmeg
Fill a Boston shaker 3/4 full with plain ice. Combine all liquid ingredients over the ice and shake vigorously for 20 seconds. Fill a glass half full with crushed ice made from the coconut ice cubes and strain the mixture into the glass. Garnish with a pineapple spear and a dash of fresh nutmeg. Sip until pain free!
